Royal Conservatoire : Rue de Nimy
The Royal Conservatoire of Mons has never stopped evolving. Housed since 1873 in a former listed convent, this leading centre of music and theatre was transformed by Jean-Pierre Saintenois's award-winning renovation in the 1980s.
After becoming a higher education institution in 2002, it merged in 2012 with the ESAPV to found ARTS², cementing its role as a major cultural and academic hub in Mons.

Carré des Arts : Rue des Soeurs Noires
Designed between 1824 and 1827 by the military engineer-architect Remi De Puydt for King William I of the Netherlands, the site was first known as the Major Sabbe barracks. After housing the Athénée provincial Jean d'Avesnes in the aftermath of the Second World War, this vast U-shaped architectural complex underwent a decisive transformation between 1993 and 1996.
Renamed the Carré des Arts, the site was completely refurbished to become the flagship centre of excellence of the École supérieure des Arts plastiques et visuels (ESAPV). Until the 2012 merger, this long-established institution ran its art studios there, sharing this heritage gem with classes from the Royal Conservatoire.

Dance Department
In September 2024, under the direction of Julie Bougard, ARTS² inaugurated its new Dance Department with the launch of a long-cycle programme (Bachelor's and Master's in Dance: Performance) based in Charleroi. This first-of-its-kind programme is delivered as a joint degree with the Haute École Provinciale de Hainaut-Condorcet, in direct partnership with the choreographic centre Charleroi danse, INSAS and ENSAV La Cambre.
Thanks to this historic launch, the institution now stands as the only École Supérieure des Arts in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation to offer programmes in four major departments: music, theatre, visual arts and dance.
Dance studios: Classes take place mainly in the dance studio at the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Charleroi and in one of the Charleroi danse studios.
